Positive reinforcement goes a long way. As instructor working on a student self-esteem is crucial.

i learned that intrinsic motivator lasts longer which makes sense. I just never thought of it that way.

I am going to display more enthusiasm and give my students more power to choose assignments.

What I learned from this module is that adult students are not too different from younger students when it comes to extrinsic and intrinsic motivation.  I am a firm believer in intrinsic motivation because it stays with you, and you can reap the "rewards" for a lifetime.  With that being said, sometimes we need to provide a tangible "carrot" for the students first which over a period of time hopefully will allow intrinsic motivation to kick in.

Coming from a middle school background, I understand the power of choice on motivating students.  What I didn't think about is how power of choice is also a strong motivator for adult learners.  I will strive to implement more opportunities for the students to exercise the power of choice.

Many different things can affect a student both situational and environmental

As the instructor, ensuring you are presenting the content in a relatable fashion and then having them practice with tactile exercises the students will become motivated themselves by applying their new knowledge and experiencing the Ah Ha moment.

REFOCUS is a reminder to keep your focus on the students and keep them engaged.  Check yourself as the instructor, ensuring the appropriate material is being covered and you are on target.  Utilize a variety of teaching methods in 10-15 minutes blocks to help students not get bored, instead help to keep them learning and applying in discussions /exercises.

Keep up with my passion and drive of my career field and the care for teaching and soon the students will take notice and want that same drive and passion.

I've learned to take the time to learn about each student so I can be more aware of each student. Knowing what they need and applying that in class will help them want to learn and succeed.
